The Museum @ FIT

9:19 PM Posted In , , , Edit This Today I saw the two newest shows on display in the Fashion and
Textile History Gallery at The Museum at FIT.
Seduction and Gothic: Dark Glamour. Both collections were unreal.

Seduction explores sexuality in fashion throughout the ages, with pieces from designers such as Balenciaga, Jane Regny, and Vivienne Westwood. The gowns and corsets featured were gorgeous.

I also got a chance to see the gold spike heels by Christian Louboutin for Rodarte in person - and they're just as gorgeous as I imagined them to be.

The Gothic: Dark Glamour collection features more than 75 death-like ensembles. The exhibition includes looks from designers such as Rick Owens, Alexander McQueen, Anna Sui, and Gareth Pugh. Definitely a must see if you're into all things destructive and dark.

Best of all, both shows are free - so if you are in the New York City area I'd suggest seeing both of these collections before they're gone.

The Chanel mobile art exhibit opened up on Tuesday night, in the freezing cold. The exhibit which was designed by Zaha Hadid, is going to be on display until November 9th, showing 15 different artist's work. All fifteen different showcase pieces, are based off of the '55 Chanel bag. This exhibit is free of charge, so if you can head over to see the exhibit in New York, get there! go to nowpublic.come for more information.

Do art galleries make you thirsty??

9:42 AM Posted In , Edit This

Hannes Broecker, a German artist, premiered his new idea at an Art Gallery in Dresden, Germany. He filled these glass containers that hang flat on the wall, with various flavors of different cocktails.  Of course by the end of the night all of the different flavors, were at different levels, some full some empty, but this is what made his art.  I wish they had this at every art gallery.

Hair Raising

12:32 PM Posted In , , , Edit This How amazing are these hair pieces by Japanese artist Nagi Noda? They've been popping up on the internet for awhile now, but I wanted to post them because I think they're so interesting. These images were photographed by Kenneth Cappello.

Dispatch from Mexico City: Anti-emo violence.
Max + Angus: Brotherly love through the eyes of a father.
The Stratemeyer Syndicate: Uncovering the mystery.
The New American Protestors: The Virgins, Lissy Trullie + Frankpollis.
Wish You Were Here: Fanciful swimwear for the fair at heart.
Bass Pro Shops: One Patron's Unnatural Obsession with Nature
Plus: Alexander McQueen with the poetics of fashion and more…
